Building Inclusive Disaster Resilient Communities (BIDRC) is a community-led initiative in partnership between SDRC, Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN), the Centre for Disability Research and Policy at the University of Sydney, and the Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA). It brings together and supports key stakeholders - people with disability, local govt, emergency services, disability service providers, and other local community leaders to co-design and co-lead local strategies and initiatives to increase community resilience to disaster, within the framework of DIDRR (Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction).
Over two years, the project will work with communities to support community resilience to disasters, including Disability Inclusive Emergency Planning forums, Business Continuity Planning workshops for services providers, and the continued rollout of the Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) program.
