Western Villages
Located west of the region’s main hub of Warwick, the north western villages of Pratten, Karara and Leyburn offer affordable housing in a traditional rural setting.
Things to Do
Leyburn is the site of the 1949 Australian Grand Prix, now commemorated annually in August with the Historic Leyburn Sprints, with thousands of people taking over the country town. Nearby Pratten was once a bustling goldfield. You can still try your luck at Thanes Creek fossicking reserve.
Employment
Leyburn is located only 25 minutes outside Warwick, providing a perfect location for those working in Warwick who wish to live in this charming town. With Toowoomba 50 minutes away, Leyburn also offers residents a viable commute for those wishing to work in Toowoomba.
Housing
The Western Villages of Leyburn, Pratten and Karara offer a range of housing with Queenslanders and farmhouse style homes the most popular. Larger rural residential blocks outside of town are also available.
Education
Leyburn State School, one of the oldest schools in Queensland, offers co-educational schooling for students from prep to Grade 6. Many students complete their high schooling in nearby Warwick or Toowoomba. There are a number of child care centres in nearby Allora, Clifton or Warwick, with the local primary school also offering outside school hours care.
