Water filling stations
Southern Downs Regional Council residents who are not on the reticulated water supply can purchase water from an approved bulk water carrier or directly from a Council owned water filling station. Council water supplied for purchase from a water carrier or from a Council owned standpipe is sourced from SDRC drinking water supplies. Any water restrictions or permanent water saving rules (now in place with a target of 200 litres per person per day) apply to all users accessing water through Council’s water fill stations.
Council will endeavour to maintain the access to the water filling stations whilst the dam levels are at full supply. Council may restrict the access to fill stations at short notice as required to implement water restrictions.
Purchasing water
Council has recently commissioned a new system to access water filling stations. This system will enable customers to purchase water from the fill stations using an electronic payment system. Existing Avdata accounts using a fob are still active, however they will be replaced in the near future by the electronic system. Current Avdata card holders will be contacted by Council prior to termination of Avdata system.
