Regular users of Southern Downs Regional Council’s official MySDRC App will enjoy an overall improved user experience with smoother navigation, wider software compatibility and updates that align with smartphone technology advancements.
The MySDRC App improvements incorporate industry best practice to make it easier for the community to stay informed of important Council news, alerts and timely updates on Council’s Disaster Dashboard.
Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Leon Love said that the MySDRC App provides Southern Downs residents with convenient access to Council information and valuable road closure updates during disaster events.
“The MySDRC App is an essential time-saving information tool that provides residents with the latest Council news, tourist information and Council career opportunities. It also provides direct access to the Disaster Dashboard for road closures and is an easy way to report issues that need to be addressed by Council, including reporting road damage during weather events,” Mr Love said.
“We don’t all travel with a laptop, but everyone has a mobile phone, and Council appreciates that improving user experience is a crucial aspect of mobile app development.
“These latest improvements are designed to increase accessibility to a broader audience and create a more positive user interaction experience.
“The MySDRC App also helps the community stay on top of misinformation by having direct access to Council’s latest media releases as soon as they are issued.
“People often take to Facebook to post a photo of an issue they want to bring to Council’s attention, but Council does not monitor social media for service requests. The most effective way to report any damage to infrastructure or log a service request is through the Fix It tab within the app and upload the appropriate photo.
“Not only does using the Fix It tab trigger a notification to the relevant department, it also triggers a reference number to your nominated email enabling you to follow up more efficiently with Customer Service on the progress of your report.
“During a flood or bushfire event, it is likely that residents will seek road closure information to get to and from home or work, and with the direct link to the Disaster Dashboard on the front interface of the app, the point of truth for up-to-date information in an emergency is only a click away.
“If you already have the app on your phone, it will automatically and conveniently update, and I strongly encourage anyone who doesn’t have the app to download it today.”
Version 2.0 of the MySDRC App is ready for download from both the Apple and Google stores. Simply search “My SDRC” to get started.
