Thousands of spectators are again expected to line Palmerin Street for the iconic John Dee Warwick Rodeo Street Parade. This year’s parade is themed Condamine Country and will kick off on Saturday 29 October at 9am.
Local businesses and community groups are now invited to register a float for the highly anticipated event and stand a chance to win big prizes for their school or organisation. Five hundred dollars in prizes is up for grabs across four categories including Best in Theme; School Exhibit; Business and Commercial; and Clubs.
In 2022, Southern Downs Regional Council is proud to re-partner with local industry leader John Dee as the major sponsor of this family-friendly parade.
Southern Downs Councillor Marco Gliori said the event is a great opportunity for schools, community groups and businesses to dress up, saddle up and buck on down the main street of Warwick.
“Across the Southern Downs, horsepower tells the story of our region, and the Warwick Rodeo and Gold Cup Camp Draft is an acclaimed event which attracts the nation’s top riders and crowds of spectators to our region,” Councillor Gliori said.
“By their nature, street parades activate communities and encourage locals to celebrate where they live.
“The 2022 John Dee Warwick Rodeo Street Parade is an opportunity for our residents and businesses to kick up their heels, get into character and decorate a float that proudly celebrates our rural heritage.
“A little bit of resourcefulness, imagination, teamwork and enthusiasm is all it takes to create a show-stopping float.
“Whether it’s an elaborately themed truck, car, ute, bike or some mind-blowing theatrical creation, get together with friends or work mates, have fun and be part of the rodeo atmosphere.
“On the back of a COVID lockdown, last year’s effort was fantastic and showcased the spirit of our community’s resilience.
“So come on Southern Downs, join this year’s event as we plan to bring back the John Dee Warwick Rodeo Street Parade. Let’s make it bigger, better and brighter than ever!”
