Southern Downs Regional Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Riley to the position of Director Planning and Environmental Services.
Scott, who was most recently the General Manager of Circular Head Council, will begin his new role with the organisation on Monday 28 February 2022.
Council CEO Dave Burges said Scott has previously held numerous senior management positions and joins Council with more than 30 years’ experience working in the local government sector.
“I’m pleased to welcome Scott as our new Director Planning and Environmental Services, a role that has never been more critical as we navigate complex flood recovery works and address aging infrastructure,” Mr Burges said.
“Scott is a highly experienced and respected executive with a strong track record in leading and developing complex organisations and teams with diverse ranges of significant statutory and business activities.
“Scott has achieved many significant outcomes throughout his career, particularly in relation to leadership, organisational and team transformation, strategic planning, community and stakeholder engagement, commercial undertakings, financial management, infrastructure asset management and risk management.
“His skill set and experience is an excellent fit with our organisation and I’m delighted to have him on board in the executive leadership team.”
As the CEO at Circular Head Council, Scott oversaw more than 60 staff and managed a $10m budget.
Scott is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration at Southern Cross University.
