It’s going to be a holly, jolly Southern Downs Christmas with Santa stopping in to visit both Stanthorpe and Warwick on his whirlwind whistle-stop tour of the region this year.
These annual, free community events are highly anticipated by the community and attract more than 3,000 locals and visitors each year who gather to enjoy festivities, carols and family friendly activities in a relaxed and jolly atmosphere.
Local food trucks, entertainers and carollers will make up the colourful tapestry of family friendly activities and events.
Southern Downs Councillor Cynthia McDonald said she expects both events to be well attended and that it will pull together the community at the end of another challenging year.
“2021 has been another wild ride across the Southern Downs and although we have had the incredible blessing of drought-breaking rains, the ongoing impacts of the pandemic continues to keep families and friends apart,” Councillor McDonald said.
“Most of us will probably find ourselves closer to home again this Christmas and attending a local carols event together with friends or neighbours will be like a warm hug from the community.”
Stanthorpe Carols in the Park kicks off the festivities at 06:30pm on Friday 10 December in Weeroona Park where families will be treated to carols, lollies for the kids and a visit from Mr Claus himself.
The jolly man in red will also visit the Warwick Carols in the Park at 6pm on Sunday 12 December in Queens Park.
Council thanks Cleanaway and Zooma Signs who have generously come on board as major sponsors of Warwick Carols in the Park.
