Council’s Disaster Management
Team recently partnered with local Emergency Services in Warwick to hold an Emergency
Services Pop-Up event at the Jumpers and Jazz in July festival, which coincided
with the record-breaking Jazzercise class held on 17th July.
Queensland Police, Queensland
Fire and Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service,
Queensland Ambulance Service, Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Australian Defence
Forces, and Southern Downs Regional Council presented their very best and
brightest emergency services heroes alongside an impressive display of the
latest equipment.
The day was filled with fun,
spandex, and most importantly – prizes! Young attendees were given a passport
and were challenged to collect a sticker from each Emergency Services department
represented and once the passport was filled, it went into the draw to win a
prize.
There were 8 prizes up for grabs,
each as impressive as the last. Southern Downs Regional Council offered 5
“Zombie Apocalypse” kits – complete with leather gloves, an electric lantern,
radio, torch, portable power bank, water bottle, USB, disaster preparedness
guide, first aid kit and more!
Warwick State Emergency Service
provided 2 preparedness kits which included a comprehensive first aid kit, a
waterproof travel box, a game, leather gloves, a torch and batteries.
LifeFlight donated a beautiful prize
pack which included a LifeFlight Bear dressed to impress in a snappy uniform,
some beautiful stationery and a LifeFlight lapel pin.
There were over 75 entries and the
eight lucky winners were:
