The Southern Downs will welcome visitors from around the country to CelticFest Warwick 2025 on the King’s Birthday long weekend from 3–5 October, offering a packed program of music, dance, food and culture celebrating the region’s strong Celtic connections.
The 2023 edition of the bi-annual festival attracted more than 10,500 attendances across two days, with visitors contributing over $1.3 million to the region’s economy. The event’s organising committee is confident of similar success this year, and more than 83% of attendees are expected to travel from outside the region to join the celebrations.
Southern Downs Regional Council Portfolio Councillor for Vibrant Communities, Cr Joel Richters, said events like CelticFest are vital in strengthening community spirit while boosting the local economy.
"CelticFest Warwick has become a signature event on the Southern Downs calendar, drawing people from near and far to experience the joy of Celtic traditions right here in our region," Cr Richters said.
"From Celtic markets, concert performances, workshops, pipe bands and lost trades, there’s something for everyone, including the Australian Highland Games Championships which are always invigorating to watch.
“Council is proud to support the festival as it celebrates our heritage and also contributes to our local economy and strengthens community spirit.”
As part of its support, Council will host a pop-up visitor information centre at the Warwick Showgrounds on Saturday 4 October, helping festival-goers discover even more of the Southern Downs.
In addition, the Warwick Visitor Information Centre at Town Hall will come alive with a CelticFringe event between 9am and 12pm on Saturday 4 October, featuring performances by the Redcliffe Scottish Pipe Band, Moreton Celtic Fiddle Club, Brisbane Pipe Band and Rumbledethumps.
Visitors to the region will also enjoy modern CelticMusic played throughout the Warwick CBD during CelticFringe Week from Monday 29 September to Friday 4 October.
“With toe-tapping performances, authentic Celtic flavours and a warm community atmosphere, CelticFest Warwick 2025 promises to be a weekend to remember,” Cr Richters added.
